Among the crafts of San Miguel de Abona, its traditional pottery stands out, one of the most deeply rooted and important trades of the place that has its roots in the ancestral techniques of aboriginal ceramics on the island.
Within the municipality there were important pottery centers such as El Drago (El Roque), La Garañaña (San Miguel casco), La Hoya and the Cueva de Las Milanas (El Frontón).

The Potter's Center of the Museum of History House of the Captain in addition to investigating, exhibiting and
disseminating traditional pottery, conducting courses for the rescue and enhancement of this trade, practically disappeared in the mid-twentieth century.
